At the heart of our work is the River Noire Business Guide, a premium print publication that highlights Black-owned businesses in Mobile, Alabama. This guide serves as a visual and tangible testament to the strength, creativity, and resilience of our business community, ensuring that these businesses receive the visibility they deserve.

Beyond print, we also house the River Noire Business Directory, a comprehensive online platform that lists every African American business we can find in the city. This digital resource serves as the bridge, making it easy for individuals to discover and support these businesses within our community–reinforcing the power of the Black dollar and demonstrating the impact of intentional spending within our ecosystem. Together, the guide and directory are tools for economic empowerment, education, and connection.

WHO WE ARE

River Noire, meaning “Black River” in French, is inspired by the historical significance of rivers—such as the Nile and the Mississippi River—as vital lifelines that have connected and sustained African American communities for generations. Rivers have been pathways to freedom, prosperity, and movement, guiding us even when we feel lost. From following the river to liberation, to building thriving communities along these waterways, rivers have always led us forward.
